I became interested in working in mental health because I have felt that it is part of my purpose for a long time now. I have witnessed people close to me struggle with severe and persistent mental illness throughout my life, which has made the work I do feel very meaningful and close to my heart.
To take care of my own mental well-being, I prioritize self-care. This looks like having a daily meditation practice, engaging in physical activity that I enjoy, making sure I get regular sunlight, spending quality time with friends and family, and prioritizing regular sleep and eating habits.
